VISIT OF UK ENGINEERING UNIVERSITY PROFESSORS TO GSIS

The Sterling Group consists of research led UK universities which share a commitment to international excellence in Engineering research and teaching. This group is recognized and supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering, the Institution of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers’ Educational Trust.

A group of three professors from this Group visited GSIS on 01 Aug 2011.

Their purpose was

a. To infuse into young minds an interest in engineering as a subject/career.

b. To explain the qualitative requirements needed in a student who seeks admission to University of Cambridge and other universities in the United Kingdom.

The three resource persons were as under

1. Dr. S P Gopal Madabhushi, Reader in Geotechnical Engineering, Dept of Engineering, University of Cambridge.

2. Professor David Charles Barton,Head of School, Professor in Solid Mechanics, School of Engineering, University of Leeds.

3. Mrs. Julia Geddes, Head of English, Notre Dame College, Principal Examiner for the AQA, an expert dealing with personal statements & admissions and an author for several books for the Oxford University Press.
